T-Mobile US has announced new pricing plans effective from March 1, 2003. There are two national flat fee offers, an "Unlimited National-Annual" offer for $30/month with a 12 month subscription and a "Unlimited National-Month to Month" offer for $40/month and monthly singup. Occasional users can choose either a "PrePay" Plan at $50/300min with a 10min mimimum per login or a "Pay as you go" Plan at $6/60min with a 60min minimum per login. T-Mobile has removed all exisiting volume restrictions an all their offered pricing plans.
US based competitior Boingo charges a flat fee of $50/month for unlimited wireless lan access or $8 for a Connect Day (thats 24 hours access from the same hotspot location). In Europe Metronet charges business customers 18 Euros/month (about $18) and 3 Euros/10MB Volume for unlimited wireless lan access.
The new T-Mobile pricing plans can be considered competitive compared to these offerings. It is still unclear which kind of tarif model will be established successfully by the WISP industry.
